High School
In addition to showcasing a student's accomplishments, PressParade benefits students in other ways.  When integrated into a high school's postsecondary student preparation, PressParade provides a means for students to identify and set goals necessary to achieve the admission requirements of the student's targeted schools.

By reviewing other student's profiles and using PressParade's Bio planning mode, a student can build a tangible framework of goals that relate specifically to their desired college or other postsecondary opportunity.

Students can also add comments and "reflections" for items they include in their profile.  Reflecting upon their work helps a student to better understand its meaning and significance.  This process also engages the student in framing their work in a way that guides readers towards the student's point of view.

These features and benefits provide high schools with an opportunity to better meet their objectives as they relate to successfully moving their students into a postsecondary education.

For high schools that typically place their students in two and four year colleges, PressParade can help their students better differentiate themselves from similarly qualified students.  PressParade may also provide these students with the edge necessary to earn a scholarship.

For school districts that have a high percentage of both minority and economically disadvantaged students, PressParade is a tool that helps level the playing field.

High schools can choose to implement PressParade to the extent that meets their specific requirements.  Schools can simply provide a recommendation to parents or they can fully integrate PressParade into their on-site college preparation program.

In addition to the general organizational benefits described above, PressParade provides features that can directly benefit high school personnel.

For guidance counselors, PressParade can facilitate better communications with students and parents.  A PressParade student profile provides a common reference point for reviewing student accomplishments.  Our college admissions counselor  page discusses this topic in more detail.

PressParade also includes a Launchpad feature that consolidates multiple profiles onto a single web page or CD-ROM.  It includes both links to the profiles and contact information for the responsible coach, guidance counselor, or other group leader.  A Launchpad CD makes a great handout for recruiters.  A link to your online Launchpad can easily be distributed via email to promote a team or group's outstanding students.

College
PressParade provides colleges with a means to better identify and understand the qualifications of their applicants.

The "rich" content (e.g. video, pictures, news articles, school project documents, etc.) present in a PressParade Profile provides information that brings a student's qualifications to life.  Unlike a flat piece of paper, this content can provide a college admissions officer with better insight into the finer details of a student's qualifications.  This leads to a more informed and accurate judgment on a student's potential to succeed at the college level.

Although PressParade's format is flexible and can include a variety of information types, a PressParade Profile also has a consistent structure that enables college personnel to easily compare one student's profile against another.

Below are some examples of how PressParade can benefit specific college personnel.

  • Admissions Officers -  PressParade's rich content provides admissions officer's with a granular view of a prospective student's qualifications and "soft" attributes (e.g. communication skills, personality).  For students with comparable test scores and other quantitative measures, a PressParade Profile can provide additional information to more accurately select a candidate.

  • Recruiters -  PressParade is a tool for students to establish a personal, realistic relationship with a prospective college.  It is not a recruiting service, but rather a means for a student to communicate their abilities and accomplishments to a college in which they have a sincere interest in attending.  A Profile's video clips, news articles, and academic information provides a recruiter with the initial information necessary to determine if the student is a potential prospect.

  • Coaches - Similar to recruiters, a coach can view a PressParade Profile's video and news articles to help establish whether a student athlete's performance level is at a sufficient level to successfully compete.  PressParade's video viewer provides frame-by-frame viewing, enabling a coach to easily analyze an athlete's skills and technique.
